Calling all writers, poets, and storytellers! Join us for an evening of creative expression at our Space for Words Open Mic Night. Whether you’re a seasoned author or just getting started, this is your chance to share your work in front of a supportive and inspiring audience.
Bring your poetry, short stories, or excerpts from your latest work — the stage is yours! Each writer will have a few minutes to showcase their writing, followed by an opportunity to connect with fellow creatives.
Come for the words, stay for the community. The Space for Words has grown into an amazing community of writers supporting one another. This event is open to all levels and all genres, so whether you write fiction, non-fiction, memoir, or poetry, we want to hear from you. It’s all about celebrating the power of storytelling in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
All people in the community are always welcome to the mic, even during special editions. We ask that you reserve the space for the group that is being celebrated, but if you don’t fit the category and are really itching to get up to the mic then the stage is yours. While we are celebrating black voices for the February edition, if you’re of another shade in the spectrum of humanity you are still welcome to the mic. All of our open mic nights are always inclusive.
Anyone who puts their name in the bucket upon entry gets a shot at the mic. You may be limited to about 10 minutes depending on how many people sign up. Audience members are, as always, a welcome and vital part of the performances.
Hosted by Clement Lee
