Sovereignty
noun
def:
- supreme and independent power or authority
- rightful status, independence, or prerogative
- a sovereign or independent state, community, or political unit
Sovereignty is one of those words that can conjure deep thoughts and emotions. It can mean so many different things on so many levels – personal, political, physical, and so on. Especially during this critical time when oppression is running rampant. We humans seem obsessed with controlling one another.
What does sovereignty mean to you? Lets look at what it means to us as a collective. We welcome the different opinions and collective imagination we can share with one another. Lets explore this topic and make space for one another to express our version of it.
The Space Gallery Open Call For Entries is for the exhibit entitled ‘Sovereignty’ and will be on view from October 11 – November 11. The deadline for entries is September 23, 2024.
Artists can submit up to 2 works of art that fit the theme of this exhibit. Artists will be notified of entry by September 27. All artists are responsible for getting their work to the gallery for hanging by October 14. Artists of most disciplines (provided the Space gallery can logistically accommodate your artform) are welcome to submit their work for consideration. We look forward to seeing how this topic resonates for you as an artist, and we wish you luck!
