The Shop at the Space

Join us for a unique jewelry shopping event!  The Shop at the Space has a rich assortment of fine and fashion artisan jewelry brands that we guarantee you will not find anywhere else.  We have hand sculpted organic jewelry by Manifest Design, whimsical, nature-inspired statement pieces by We Dream in Colour, and hand crafted one- of- a – kind ceramic jewelry by artist Eve Bauer.  Plus a collection of pure 24 karat gold, diamonds and gemstones that is handcrafted in Turkey called Cevherun.  Its a collection that is not always on display, so take advantage of this opportunity!  Find something extra special for Mom for Mother’s Day, or shop for yourself.  We will have wine and refreshments available.  Come shop and sip and learn about the intricate craftsmanship that goes into each piece, and find something that inspires you!

John Ehlis and Glen Velez

If you were there for our last Listening Room Session you know what an epic night that was! Next up in this monthly series is guitarist John Ehlis and percussionist Glen Velez, two powerhouse creative forces joining together to share an evening of world music rooted in tradition, invention and fun. They will take us on a journey through the Mediterranean, to Central Asia and India, and on to the unique realms of their original music.

Truth in Realism – the Art of Max Ginsburg

May 16 – June 15

The Space is proud to launch its first solo exhibition for one of this era’s leading realist painters, Max Ginsburg. His work speaks to our humanity with honesty and heart. The exhibit will feature a selection of his important works along with more intimate portraits. I am especially excited to host his work here on a personal level, as Ginsburg was my painting teacher during my time as an art student at the School of Visual Arts in the 90’s. Now that he is a local Montclair resident, it has been a full circle moment that I’m so proud to share with everyone.

The opening reception will be held on Friday May 16 from 5 – 8 pm. *the date has changed from May 9

Max will be offering a painting demo and talk about his lifetime of work on Thursday evening, May 22 from 7 – 9:30 pm. *the date has changed from May 15. Whether or not you are an artist, this opportunity to watch Max paint from a live model will be a rich learning experience.

There will also be a week-long painting workshop from June 2 – 6. This is a rare opportunity to study with Max up close and to dive deep into your craft. Details and registration are available here.

Weekly Figure Drawing

Tuesday night open studio figure drawing is every week!

Join us every Tuesday at 7pm for a self-guided exploration of your craft. Bring your materials of choice and let the nude model be your muse for the evening. Challenge how you see things, keep your creative muscles flexed, and get into flow state. You’ll be in great company with various local artists, all in the process of exploring and honing their craft. You’ll be surrounded by inspiring art and have great music (as proclaimed by many!) in the background. Its a vibe for sure!

Class is every Tuesday 7 – 9:30 and is $20. You can buy tickets in advance or just show up and pay on site!

Special Workshop

Max Ginsburg Oil Painting Workshop

This is a rare opportunity to study with a contemporary master realist. Max Ginsburg has a long legacy of teaching and a body of work that is highly sought after. The fact that he is a local Montclairian, and that he was my teacher in art school ages ago just makes it so extra special!

The workshop is June 2 – 6, Monday – Friday from 10 am – 4 pm each day. There are a few spaces left!

The Shop at the Space

Mother’s Day is almost here! The shop has a beautiful selection of jewelry, both fine and fashion, that you definitely will not find anywhere else. Hours are Wednesday – Sunday 12 – 6 pm.

Jewelry is art. And when its jewelry of a unique caliber it belongs in an art gallery. The Shop at the Space has a unique assortment of beautiful jewelry that you won’t find anywhere else. From fine gold jewelry by Cevherun, to sculptural fashion jewelry by We Dream In Colour and Manifest Design, along with some vintage pieces, we have a variety of price points and options to choose from.

Mission Statement

The space is a forum for creative expansion and expression.  We are an art gallery that holds art classes, open mic nights, artist talks, exhibit openings, healing circles, live music events, meditation and wellness events, and jewelry markets.
