Friday August 15, at 7pm, OPEN TO ALL WRITERS!!
Calling all writers, poets, and storytellers! Join us for an evening of creative expression at our Space for Words Open Mic Night. Whether you’re a seasoned author or just getting started, this is your chance to share your work in front of a supportive and inspiring audience.
Bring your poetry, short stories, or excerpts from your latest work — the stage is yours! The Space is a safe place to try out new material, read old favorites, experiment with a different genre, and even to sing a song if inspiration strikes you. Each performer will have a few minutes to showcase their writing, followed by an opportunity to connect with fellow creatives.
Come for the words, stay for the community. The Space for Words has grown into an amazing community of writers supporting one another. This event is open to all levels and all genres, so whether you write fiction, non-fiction, memoir, or poetry, we want to hear from you. It’s all about celebrating the power of storytelling in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. All of our open mic nights are always inclusive.
Anyone who puts their name in the bucket upon entry gets a shot at the mic. You may be limited to about 10 minutes depending on how many people sign up. Audience members are, as always, a welcome and vital part of the performances.
If you have published books that you would like to sell, bring some copies and be prepared to accept payment.
General guidelines:
BYOB is welcome, and some light snacks and drinks are served.
We’re open to hearing your ideas! If you are a writer and would like to host one of the open mic sessions here, or if you would like to host a writing workshop or have other ideas, just send us an email: hello@thespaceforart.com. We are also open to people who want to host an open mic night for musicians. Just email us.
